Put in the 160 stat first, take it to a tunner and have the fans reset..cost about $75.00 to do it.

I believe thats like 175 bucks.

You should probably put in a 160 thermostat then go to a tuner and have them reprogram the fans to come on earlier.

I use the Vinci fan controller and it works very well. You can set the on temp, the fans shut off 7 degrees under that. Mine is set on at 208 and off at 201 running the stock thermostat.

Where in Florida are you? I am in Palm Harbor (near Tampa) and have HP Tuners. For $100 we can add you too my licence and I can change that, and a few other things for you if you want. Things like:

O2 delete
Shift points
Fuel cut offs
CAGS eliminate
COT eliminate
Shift light setup

I am not trying to make any money, just trying to help. Let me know.

Where can I get a 160 thermostat? Is this a good mod? I have a LS6 thats in a mid engine car and the underhood temps might get a bit hot.

Summit, Jegs, and about 100 other online performance sites.

As for being a good mod, that is open for debate. I run the 160* but I live in Florida and I drag race. For that combo, it works well. Up north or for a daily drive, you might want to go a little warmer, maybe a 180* or stay with stock (195*).

If you change the thermostate, you will need tuning to adjust your fan settings.

For about 8 bucks for switch and wire you can put in a manual fan control switch.

For no bucks, if you want the fans to come on, just push the A/C button. Then both fans will come on at high speed and cool the radiator down as well as you getting cooled down from the A/C unit.
