Default emmision testing in Md.

Do they still just do the tail pipe sniffing or do you have to let some young jockey drive it on the rollers & tach the h#ll out of it? Mine is due the end of May.

I thought it was like RI (I have friends in MD) and they just plug in since it is OBDII, no rollers.

Did mine about 9 months ago in AA county and it was a diagnostic scan only test. OBD1 cars get the sniffer, ours only get the scan for emissions related codes. Anyways that was my experience.

Good luck!

Scan only. If my car passed, I'm sure yours will. Guy only stalled my car three times trying to get it over the rollers to the scanner. Don't think he was use to the exedy dual disk clutch.

They check your gas cap, and then check codes via OBDII. Only takes a few minutes if there isn't a line. Just did mine a few weeks ago.

Yes, only the LT1/L98 guys have to worry about the sniffer.

I took my z to emmisions about a month ago. They just pass me, because it was to low for the dyno. And it was free, not even the 15 bucks or what ever they charge.

I live in MD too. Do what I do. I go inside and tell them my car is lowered and won't go over the rollers without damaging the car.
They should give you a two year waiver and you just go back 2 years later for an extension. They don't want to be responsible for damaging your car and you don't have to pay for emissions testing.
Works for me.
