I started getting a very slight grind when shifting into 4th gear today...It only does when your up shifting.I can skip 4th and then down shift into 4th and no grind it dosent pop out of gear or drive bad once its in gear.I have a sticking clutch pedal when shifting hard I have a new clutch waiting to go in when I have time to do it.Do u think the new clutch will fix my probs??? or do you think simple fluid change might help.Any ideas

I had the same issue but when powershifting at highrpm. most likely my syncros are shot but after swapping to amsoil ATF, it stopped doing it.

maybe I need to switch over to ATF soon since my 3rd and 4th gear are both grinding downshifting and upshifting. Probably bad sychros as well, but changing the fluid to see if it eliminates the problem at least for a while is always better than replacing the tranny
I just got done changing the fluids with royal purple and now its grinding in 3rd also...Maybe i'll try amsoil.Has anybody ever used royal purple in ur cars?Anyways thanks 4 the input
Did any of you guys have luck with changing the fluid? My 01 has 30K and it grinds going into 3rd at higher rpms, low rpms it shifts fine and all the other gears are good. My local dealer is telling my syncro, 3rd gear and blocking rings. 2k in parts and labor does that sound right?
I can't see how fluid would make this problem go away.
Thanks

Too many want a "mechanic in a can". Note: if your 3-4 shift fork is bent it might be a contributing factor too. The OEMs are aluminum. Steel replacements are available.

Interesting, my 4th gear grinds as well, i took it to a transmission shop and they told me it was my syncro, 2k for a full rebuilt. Know im thinking of trying this Amsoil ATF, to see if it stops the grinding for now.
