Default Top end speed

Does anyone know what the top end speed and 0 to 60 speed is for a 2000 Coupe with a manual tranny? Just curious.

0-60 is 4.8, 1/4 mile is 13.3 (all depending on driver) and top speed is 172 +/- 5, your car will never hit that stock unless you have 10 miles of straight road and the wind on your side, it will take a couple mods to hit that and if you do hit that your going to have some tickets and jail time to go with it.

Don, Afraid I'm in need of some coaching as I only run 14s in the 1/4 on stock run flats and with K&N and Corsa as the only mods. Care to discuss shift points, launch RPM, traction control on or off ? I must be doing something wrong. Thanks, Vinny

It all depends on how you launch (60' times make it all) and how fast you shift, I have to shift into 4th in the 1/4, if you look at my sig i had a 2.2 60' which to me is horriable but I did not launch the car, I feathered the clutch and hammered it out of the hole, no spinning, if I actually launched at 1800 rpms it would bog down (good track prep) I did not want to rick blowing a output shaft by "launching" at a higher rpm, if i can get a 2.0 or even a 1.9 60' then I would have ran 12.7-12.9 easy. I was shifting as soon as the shift light came on the HUD and traction control was OFF. Its all in the driver

Thanks. I get 60 foot times between 2.38 and 2.6. Don't have HUD so am shifting off the tach at 5,000 (too soon huh?) At what RPM do you get a shift light? Traction control was ON. Going through the traps in 3rd @ about 6,000RPM @ 101 mph. So I guess I have a few things to try. I'm 65 years old and taking my Vette to the track makes me feel like 19 again. Damn, is this a great country or what?

deffinately turn the traction control off when you are at the track. it will hinder the performance at the track, but adds a lot of safety on the road. try shifting at around 6K to 6.5K(more use of the horsepower in each gear). IMO

Shift about 300 rpm before redline, 5000 is way too soon, try to get 60' time as low as possible (2.6 is killing your trap time) Also ^^ you cant shift at 6500 the rev limiter is at 6250 (or right around there) and even if you raised your limiter to shift @ 6500 your car would run even slower times cause it falls on its face after 6000 rpms (from the stock heads and exhaust) but yea always run at the track with TC off, ALWAYS good luck

0-60 was advertised as 4.8 and top speed for the coupe was 175 mph.

Thanks guys, will try again using the new criteria. It's true that the first 60 feet determines how the run will go. I just hope the problem isn't that I have a 13 second car in the hands of a 14 second driver.

Yea 60' will pretty much determine what your time will be (unless you misshift) if you ran 14.1 on a 2.6 60' then there is def def room to hit LOW to MID 13's, if you can get a better launch and get your 60' down to a 2.1-2.0 range (it can be done on stock tires with a good preped track) then you would have ran anywhere between 13.1-13.5, your car has the power to do that. Plus you shifting at 5k does not help , but your trap speed was 101 @ 14.1 so no worries you will get a better time, good luck
