I am picking up my EB Z06 in two weeks, and have started shopping for wheels. I looked through some old posts, and didn't find anything that answered my questions quite right. Got some good info though.
I have talked to a couple of people about the difference between reproduction wheels and OEM wheels. I know the literal difference, but is there any real change in quality as you go for reproductions?
I have looked for Polished Z06 wheels and have seen very few of them. I talked to a company that polishes the wheels and got a quote. He did tell me that the polished ones will be harded to take care of than the chromed ones and that the polish will fade over time. Again, I know that is true technically, but does anyone have experience with it, or would you have purchased polished ones if they were more available?
Last, my hope was to buy a second set of wheels so that I could have one set to play with for Driver's Ed type track events. Given that, I am looking at a second set of Z06 wheels or a set of ZR-1 style wheels (probably reproductions). I know that the sidewalls will be larger on the 17 in ZR-1's allowing more flex, but they would also be a little wider in back (11 in. rims). Also, would the repo's be strong enough for track use? I assume they would, but I thought I should ask.
