Bit upset at having to ask but I have a 2004 Le Mans edition Convertable Corvette. In the centre consol is a dial for "Touring" or "Race". i have flicked between both settings but dont really notice any difference.
What does this switch acctual do or is it the equivelent of putting go faster strips up your car Dosnt make it go any faster but you believe it does
It controls your suspension system. Touring is a softer ride. Race is much tighter. You would feel the difference in turns at speed. Read the owners manual.
are you talking about the 3 position selector for "touring, sport, and perf"? If so, that is for selective ride control. It has everything to do with suspension and nothing to do with speed. If not, check this link for a free copy of your owners manual! Welcome to the Vette family!

Are you sure it is Touring & Race ?
perhaps Touring & Sport
Its just when you click it nothing seems to changes.. no beeps whistles or clicks. Other question is would it be dangerous for n00b driver me to turn off traction control... does it indeed make the car go faster or just stop the wheels spinning.
Anyone got any soloutions for the window / roof rubbers that buckle under speed and make a lot of noise around 175kph ??? (Note: Convertable )
As you can see,, the button does little or nothing to the Seat of the pants feel of the car. It had one MAJOR benifit though,,,it made a LOT of cash for GM and made the bump in the seat of your pants (your wallet) a lot less noticeable!! It was a COMPLETE waste of money in my honest opinion!
One day you will want to change your shocks and will see the price of new F-45 (real time dampening) shocks and go (HOLY CRAP!!!)
Or you you will get RTD DTC's and have to fix it! $$$$$$$$$$
Then it would be time to replace them with 2007 C6 Zo6 shocks with C5 ZO6 (Z51) sway bars and have all that F-45 crap programmed out of the BCM for some real suspension stuff.
As you can see, Im NOT a RTD, F-45 suspension fan!!!

I thought the 04s had the much improved F-55 suspension.
I have the F55 option in in my 2003. I can immediately and definitely tell a difference on bumpy roads when I filp the dial. It also corners flater in Sport mode. I imagine it is spendy to work on it but what isn't on these cars.

Same as most parts on any other car, they just add the "Corvette Tax"
I've read threads on here talking about how the F-55 suspension cars ride REALLY rough in all modes... only because the dealers did not remove some kind of stop in each shock or something. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.
Your F55 suspension adjustment switch should make a noticable difference when driving, but won't set off any bells, lights or buzzers when it is changed. If it doesn't make a difference, and it always rides rough, check under the shock boots for the factory transport "stuffers".
Traction control / active handling has three (3) settings.
On - traction control and active handling are enabled. Spinning the tires or sliding the car will cause it to intervene automatically.
Off - the computer will not take any actions regardless of conditions. No extra performance is gained.
Competitive - traction control is disabled (allowing you to spin the tires), but active handling is still enabled to help you maintain control if a skid occurs. This is enabled by holding down the button for a few seconds.

I'd leave the traction control on. Especially until you get used to the power or go to the track.
There was a thread a while back where someone asked if traction control had saved anyone. There were ALOT of responses where it had saved some people from crashes
ooooooooo so impressed by the holding down the button trick.. didnt know that love finding a new button or toy HEHEHE THANK YOU
Car rides rough and i dont notice the change in the suspension it is always rock solid. Does anyone have any pictures of what i am looking for on the shocks? Can it be seen without removing anything? Ill whip it down to the car wash and have a look at it while its up on the ramp
Sorry for double post but on wheels slipping, when tires are cold it happens all the time even under a little acceration. Worse when roads are sandy and insane when it rains here as the road gives off some sort of soapy sud (I kid you not)
