The latch releases the glovebox door about an eighth of an inch but will open no further. I've tried pulling, prying, etc. but with no success. It does not appear to be jammed by anything inside the glovebox.
The service manual is no use either. It prefaces every procedure dealing with glovebox service with "open the glovebox door".
It may be the lid of the zipper of your owners manual which prevents the latch from fully disengaging.
Had this happen to me long time ago. Since then, I always make sure that the zipper lid is away from the glovebox latch when I put the owners manual back in.
Try a sharp left -or right turn on a parking lot in the hope that the owners manual slides over to the other side.
Good luck.
