Default vararam installed today

well i called in to myself and took the day off so i could installed my new vararam b2. had a nice b-fast and started at 10am raised the car about 15 inches and follow cajundues instruction and the varrams provided. varrams instructions are doable but cajuns are sweet cause of the colored pics. found out it was a good time to clean out my radiator again just did it last month but with everything off holy crap did i miss alot. spent about a hour blowing and banging it out. PUT A RAG IN YOUR THROTTLE BODY SAND EVERYWHERE. didnt need any spacers just bolt it in but the plastic plate that bolts the tubes together was to wide so i cut it down and put new holes in it. to end up with a 16 3/8 width outside tubes flange. then i had to work the hose claps around make the air bridge to sit low and flat. done and cleaned up 2pm. i also had lunch and noon and played with the dogs. so its alot easier than it looks just get under there and start taking it apart. now i took it for a spin on I 91N feels stronger smoother and louder . drove for about 25 mins at 70 got off went to the marina shut off the car checked out the flooded marina. started the car back up did a hard 1st and 2nd pull and PINGING, Got back on 91 hit it again and it pinged alittle less took another 25 minute drive home. im sure it will work itself out. but it sure feels to pull harder P.S. i used k&n filter oil before install cause they come dry. only reason i used k&n oil was i had it on the shelf left over

I have had some issues about the Vararam( installation instructions, quality of fit and finish, lack of info on OILING the filter before you drive the car). I hope you oiled the filter before you ran the car with it hooked up. They do not tell you to do this in the instructions, and YOU MUST DO THIS if it is for a C5.Apparently, if I am not mistaken from other posts, the C6 filter comes pre-oiled.( Why? C6, and not C5?)I used K&N spray oil to lubricate the filter. Unfortunately, I ran the car without doing this for a little bit because they never said to do this in the instructions.Thank goodness for a post about this here on the forum to make me aware of this.
Having said all this negative stuff, I have to admit, that the car really does run smoother, and ALOT faster with the Vararam installed.I just wish that I didn't have to go through all this to get it right.Have fun with it, remember to wave, and be safe.

You also have to do an idle relearn if you disconnected the battery. I would not buy another Vararam. Once is enough.

I installed mine about two weeks ago. Lubed with K&N oil. Heloooooo difference and just love to hear the air being drawn through the filter. Last week I had a little pinging under load. I think it was bad gas.

Buy one! You'll be very happy with it. I love mine and it really does what it claims.
