From reading this forum, I think problems with the brake/clutch switches are most common. While driving, put your foot under the brake or clutch and pull back and see if you can get the cruise to engage. If it does, then one of the switches is mis adjusted. If not, it is something else. In my car, a wire broke in the multifunction switch so I got no power to the system at all. You need a schematic of the cruise system but you can check the multifunction switch by accessing the throttle control module which is attached to the pcm behind the passenger front wheel. Remove the panel in the wheel well, loosen the module and disconnect the proper connector. Use a test light, not a dmm. I used a dmm and though I was getting power even though there really was none - the high impedance input did not drain off a static charge. Good luck!
