Default I need 120hp!

My engine is pretty much a stock LS1. I have a 80mm TB, BBK short tubes, borla stinger, and bassani x pipe. I want to see if I can get 100-120 more horse out of her.

This is my daily driver, and I don't plan to race it but I want to know extra power is under the hood for ricers, rustangs, and ****** in bmw's.

My budget is $6500. What would yield the most power...A nice head and cam package (LS6 Ported Heads, street cam 230/227, long tubes and high flow cats), or an intercooled procharger? Of course I would get it tuned after the install for max HP. Do I need a new oil pump and under pulleys with these setups?

Just want to hear what the experts have to say. Any info would help.

I would go H/C with LT headers.
A good H/C package would cost you around $2500, add $1500 for ARH LT headers with HF cats, $300 for ported oil pump and timing chain.
Get a dyno tune for $400-500
Gears for another $2000

That would be a total of $6800 if you do the labor yourself. If not then remove gears from the list.
You will make around 450 RWHP with a good HC package! That's plenty of power.
Then when you save some money, you can always add a blower on top

Oh and being from Houston, I would suggest you contact HPE: www.horsepowerengineering.com
They build awesome cars! They are good and have Erik Koenig on their side (one of the best engine builder in the country)

I just did my own head/cam install and had it dyno tuned. With Texas Speed's 224R cam, their Stage 2.5 5.3Liter heads, LG Street series headers ($1,100), an underdrive pulley, an LS6 intake, and all the peripheral items and tools cost me about $4,600. Add another $1,000 or $1,600 for someone to install all of that, if you don't want to do it yourself. I am at 410whp, which is 105 over stock. My cam is considered mild by most, though. I wanted a nice, broad torque curve with plenty of bite from 2,500rpms.

If you bumped up to some AFR heads and a slightly larger cam, you can get quite a bit more for about $1,000 more. There are a couple guys running LG's G5X1-E cam (228/232 .600 on a 115LSA) with AFR's who have 450whp (470 with FAST 90/90). It's still a fairly mild-idling cam, too, although it's definitely not stock sounding. So, for $6,500, you can do heads and a cam and have money left over (depending on if you do the install). FI (with a tune) will be pushing it at $6,500, unless you are buying used. Good luck, man!

save another $1300 and go see EG in florida and go FI. He's running a special right now on the ecs novi2000 best supercharge package out IMO and you will be putting down about 175 more rwhp

Blower is a good way to go, but he can still add it later on.
I meanif he starts with a H/C package, he will have a full package included in the price. Plus sending the car to FL might make the deal a little less interesting
Also, a blower with no meth is always putting your stock pistons at risk, you may be lucky but you may not. Plus you need headers to get most out of it. Altogether, it would be a more costly project.

Personnaly I think that going H/C firstwill allow him to have a complete package, everything needed to get the most out of H/C (I mean headers, gears) and be relaible as the parts that are under stress are changed and stronger (like new pushrods, springs and so on).

I think it will give himtime to get used to the power, enjoy it reliably and save for a blower. Plus you can't be a cam sound!

I personnaly started with a blower, but I knew I wanted to build a motor soon after (forged motor soon to be ordered) so I did not really care if my stock motor would break

Heres my plan:

I am pretty much stock right now, have intake and cat back. I want to add, LG Street headers and x-pipe. Head and cam package not sure which one yet, I have an LS6 intake coming from a member here adding a ported throttle body. Hopefully this nets me 400 rwhp. Then I had 125-150hp Dry shot of nitrous for special occasions!!
