for your Vette, but intend you're just gonna be doing the "Cruising Sine"
I wouldn’t waist your money on "Shorties".

However, if you’re looking for some serious power gains then go with a
good Long Tube Header System. . . . There are a lot of good systems out there,
e.g., American Racing Headers, LG Header System, Kooks Headers, etc., etc.

340 hp and 350 tq on pacesetter shorties and xpipe is nothing to sneeze at on a 98 vert 6 spd.

Here was my rationale on my shorties purchase:
1. Because I knew that Heads and cam were in my future when I was planning on doing headers, I couldn't justify the difference in HP for the price difference. I paid like 300 dollars or so for mine. This left a lot of money to do other mods. My complete exhaust ran 766 dollars from engine to tail pipe, incuding the X-pipe, sounds very mean and I shed 30 pounds from the car, thats a hard to beat combination for the price and performance.

2. Shorties should make more torque then LT, since my cam was going to be operating above 3500 rpm, I wanted to keep some lower end TQ.

3. A 75 shot of nitrous and I'm still less then the price of LTs plus none of the hassles and they bolt right up. Again freeing up money to spend on other mods for the car including a killer sound system.

By no means do I expect my post to end the great debate, far from it, however I do feel that each case is unique and people should look at all the options. If a person were to do only bolt ons, then yes, LT might be the way to go to maximize HP, but if you are planning on going into the engine, think about where you are putting your money at and how to get the most in return.

I hope that I have given food for thought. Since there are now a ton of posts on this subject I think I will refrain from contributing on this topic for a while, it has definitly been beat to death at this juncture and I'm sure people are tired of seeing my replies all the time, so hopefully others will contribute on the subject in the future. Especially those who have run both.

Wishing you all the best.

Brad

I have a pair of B&B and am at 409 RWHP with a cam thats a touch "below" the g5x2... Mine are coated... look great easy install and picked um up off here for under 500... If i Moved to Long tubes I am not sure how much I would gain but cant be tooo much ... I am right in line with other guys here with same mods....

Who carries the pacesetter shorties for the best price. It's starting to sound like these are the best.
