I heard a lot about those installing an underdrive pulleys.
I don't think the gain is higher than 2 HP? what do you see there
On the other side it will redducce the steering pump and will bring more potential for fluid boiling.
This will redducce the water pump and then the cooling of the engine.
this will redducce the alternator. on the C5 we already have a chr\arging problem woth the battery.
I think this set up is good for 1/4 mile but I don't think it is good for road racing.
the underdrive pulley would be something you add on while doing a cam swap since the pulley has to come off anyways. Just to replace it by itself would not be worth the labor. I have one one my car and i dont have any charging, steering or p/s issues.

For those of us who have had the wobbly harmonic balancer it was a no-brainer to put on the underdrive pulley. But I would venture to say that you get more than 2hp. I believe that it is closer to 9-10 rwhp actually. The car seemed to respond quicker as well but you could definitely feel the change. And I have never had a problem with charging, power steering or over heating problems yet. I do say yet though because as soon as I say never I know it will come up.

What do you think?
I think you have NO idea what you're taking about.
Nah, I never seen the $$ to Hp gain to be worth it, IMHO.
It's another one of those theory modification. You should gain some RWHP, but I agree is it worth the $260+ dollars.
I did it and most guys do it. If I every do modifications to another LS engine, I think Ill skip that mod.
Ive had mine on for two years, and my car has suffered NO down side. No boil of anything, no differance in the power sterring or A/C, nothing in the charging of the car. The only thing that I have heard about is some issues with guys that have big electrical usage from huge stereos and amps not getting enough power. But even that is rare. Its a no harm mod.
Its kind of like Vararam staying you will gain 40 HP.... you dont

I have a LGM long tube pro headers and the vararam. I gain 55RWHP
how much is the intake and how much is the headers I don't know but the gain was much more than I expected. So far on every track event I went for the past two years the guys with Z never believe me I just have headers and intake.
for the steering fluid some of you do not understand but I have 285x18slicks tires on the front and with T1 spring sway bar and schocks.
the effort on the colum is much more than on stock tire and suspension.
Then the fluid was boiling. I already have to change my steering colum. I add a radiator and put High temp fluid. it is better but I'm still at the limit of boiling. I think I will install a bigger radiator
As I'm swapping heads and cams I will check and remove it.
I think you convince me.
talking to the tuner that will do the LS1 edit he see more like 8 to max 10 RWHP
