clicking noise when turning
when i turn, either right or left, i get a clicking noise. i have noticed the noise always corresponds to the outside tire during the turn. and certainly appears to be coming from the front of the car. it sounds almost like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle tire, at least the frequency during the turn, but a little more "clicky". it's also only in a turn and it has to be a decent turn. not necessarily full lock but just like any turn into a parking lot or parking space will induce this noise.
i jacked the left front up this afternoon and as best i could compressed the spring to get it as close as possible to ride height, turned the wheel to full lock and rolled the tire over but found no contact with anything. even at right height, i don't see where anything rotating could be contacting anything stationary but the noise is definately there.
there are no rub marks anywhere on the tire or wheelwell so i'm at a loss. has anyone else out there had a similar problem?
