Altering mileage indication???
I've been looking at some cars that seems to have a lot of "use" for the indicated mileage. 
Can this be changed? Easily? How? Is it possible to detect?

Anyone who is savvy enough can find someone to reprogram even an electronic speedo and ECU. This has been talked about on the forum a few times for legit reasons (adding aftermerket cluster and/or hud).
Honestly, I don't look at mileage nearly as much as I look for abuse or other signs of wear. My car had 99k on it when I bought it, but still had orig clutch, and lots of TSB stickers all over it. I preferred that over some of the other "low mileage" cars that were already on a second clutch at 50k mi and had lots of creaks and rattles. Use common sense, if it looks beat...it probably is, regardless of mileage.....just move on to the next one.

Like said above, just get a new cluster and the odometer will be set at zero, or whatever the new cluster is set at.
But if I remember correctly the mileage is stored somewhere else also. I could be wrong though. Someone else will chime in.
