Default Throttle Body = added HP?

ON Ebay there is a LS1 throttle body offered for sale which CLAIMS to add 15-20 HP to a stock engine. The details are as follows:
-78mm adds 350cfm over stock
-Brass throttle blade 50% thinner than stock
-semi polished air inlet
-will NOT throw any codes (engine will adjust to higher cfm's)
-power is felt in low and mid range
-1/2 hour install
-$150.00 cost + $90.00 core charge
Anybody here think any of his is true? Do you think it's a good deal?

As always, thanks in advance for your help!

As a comparison, I picked up an 80mm BBK throttle body on EBAY for cheap and replaced mine. Throttle response is a little crisper and more responsive, but I don't think it produces any more HP. I wouldn't spend the money again.

I would say its good for 5 to 7 hp at the most. The main difference in the throttle response.

This is true. However, it does enhance the driving experience, IMHO.

The stock TB will flow enough for a 500 crank hp car, how can putting a larger TB on a car make any difference. You can only get so much air into the cylinder on each revolution. A colder charge will give you a more dense mixture for more hp, a larger TB will not.

You can send you stock TB the Mark Shaner at S2 Performance and get a real nice porting job for a lot less than that and a lot of people can offer first hand testimonial to the quality of his work and the change in their cars after the install. You can also just order a ported TB from Mark and then send him you stock one as a core exchange. Why reinvent the wheel - go with a known quality mod.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll take this advise.
