Default inside the prt mufflers

I was looking inside the speedway tips of my bb prt system(into the muffler) and noticed that on the tubes that connect w/ the bypass, that bb tack welded on pieces of metal that just stick out and block the flow of air to the tips(I think they did this to keep the air cycling through the small muffler). I hope I explained that well enough. I wonder that if I stick in some needle nose pliers and break loose these two "sails" will it have an impact on the sound. Has anyone else seen this or have any info on this? I guess I can get some pics if needed.

Default PRT Design

Those "mufflers" you refer to... are part of the "Purge Resonance Technology" system. They are actually "purge chambers" that tune out resonance & give you a throaty idle & cruise sound. Those "baffles" provide deflection into the chambers at low rpm, until there is acceleration...then you have the advantage of a straight-thru design...

I got'm & love'm ...just the way they are (and sound)

I thought that it was Pulse Resonance Technology.

Coming from the bullets, I find no resonance what so ever; a tad too quiet for me but I still like them. I was just wondering if I remove those small metal inserts, or bend them back to let more of the air pass through the by pass tube, what kind of am impact will it have on the sound?

The PRT's DO resonate at about 1700 rpm. I now have the B&B Route 66 and they are great. They were a little mild at first but as they broke in they became better. Then I added headers and they really came alive.
