What kind of tire dressing do you use and how do you apply??? It seems every kind I use slings all over the car and on the yellow it looks bad quickly.
Thanks Ben
I'm using Meguire's tire gel. Good stuff, and lasts a few weeks. I use it sparingly, (just enough to blacken the tires) especially on the diagonal grooves on the sidewall face of the Goodyears. They trap the dressing and as soon as you take it for a spin, well you know...
The Zaino:) stuff isn't real glossy and isn't dull..just about right and doesn't sling. I do let it dry after applying for an hour or so before driving. It's the last thing I do when detailing.
I use the Meguires with the sponge also. It doesn't look quite as wet as the spray on "wet look" stuff, but it doesn't sling either. I also let it dry for at least an hour also, but overnight is even better.
Meguiar's Endurance. As others suggested, do not drive it immediately.
The Endurance will hold up through several washes and the more coats applied over time, the better the appearance.
Have not tried Zaino, so not knocking it, but I have tried many of the "spray ons", even when applied to a rag first, they still sling the black oil. :seeya
I know everyone always says it, but I use Zaino too. It's about the only good tire stuff I've found that really stays on the tire. Lasts a LONG time too.
If you are running the stock tires with the gillions of grooves, you're slinging whatever you put on. I've tried many products, they all do it. It's the tires. None of my other cars do because they have smooth sidewalls. Anyone that says it's not slinging off needs glasses. :smash:
I've heard many people like Meguiar's Endurance. I use the Zaino tire dressing (one of the few Zaino products I like) and it does a good job, except I don't like the application. It's kinda runny and sticky and doesn't absorb well into the applicator. But it looks good and lasts, so I'll use the bottles I have for now.
Meguires Endurance here. Use it VERY sparingly and take at least 5-10 min. per tire to rub it in with the sponge. The mistake that most people make with tire dressings is putting too much on and not spending enough time to distribute a small amount over the tire. This results in excess dressing being slung off of the tire.
I can't think of the brand right now, but I use a gel-type stuff, silicone I think. Anyway, I think like someone else said you'll get a little bit of splatter because the stuff has lots of grooves to hide on your tires . . . . for me, it works pretty good to make sure I don't put too much on. I put it on (sponge) and then wipe off as much excess as I can. I get a little bit on my car, but usually just the first time I drive it after I put the tire stuff on, after that it doesn't sling anymore. When I run out of this stuff I'm going to jump on the Zaino wagon to see how I like that. Good luck!
