So I read a couple of DIY and they seemed pretty easy so I thought I would give it a try. Did the rear and it took about 5 minutes to do, but when doing the front something didnt work correctly. I placed my jack under the leaf to "ease the tension" (not sure if this even did anything) then put a 10mm open ended wrench on the bolt and started turning it counter clockwise. I did this for several minutes but all that happened was the bolt spinning and getting caught on the bushings underneath while not actually getting lower. Is there something I am missing or is something wrong with my car? Are you supposed to secure something else as well?
Also, while easing the tension on the spring, how much should it be jacked? I did it until the car started to move up and thought that was sufficient.
I did mine a few weeks ago also, back was done in 5 minutes, took longer to jack it up. I just left 2 threads on each.
The front looks like it was lowered already, this is not a picture of mine but it looked like this. I did the same as you, put a jack under the spring and relieved pressure but it was hard to turn.
but my car is not lowered in the front. it actually looks like it is above stock height. is there something i am doing wrong or something else i should try?
Funny that you say that your car now looks HIGHER in the front than before. I just lowered mine (yes, I turned the bolts in the correct direction - rear bolts now show LESS thread and the fronts now show MORE), and I could swear that the whole car looks as high or higher than it did before!! I am hoping that the car will settleand that it appears higher because the tension was taken off the springs while it was on jackstands (was doing other work, too).
