Default Brake Question

I just purchased a 2001 with 35k miles. Car has slotted/cross drilled rotors and according to the guy I bought it from he had only driven the car about 100 miles in the last two moths. There was quite a bit of rust on the rotors that wore off quickly but now my right front rotor has an excessive amount of brake dust even on short drives and there is a fluttering sound thats coming from somewhere when the wheels are turning that decreases when I brake. It almsot sounds like the old plastic on the bicycle spokes sound (we all did it as kids). Anyway, I'm about as mechanically inclined as a rock so any thoughts or ideas on this would help before I start any unneccessary disassembly.

Take it out and do about 10 stops from high speed, basically re-bed the brake pads. If this doesn't help, I'd get a new set of pads. Dust is something we just have to live with. There are low-dust pads on the market, but they usually decrease performance.

Look at any BMW/Porsche, and you'll see tons of brake dust. They use aggressive pads to help give them the reputation of having "awesome brakes", while most US companies use pads that miximize life and reduce brake dust.

Your car likely has a set of cheepo aftermarket pads, and the lack of use has aggrivated the problem.

That sound is likely the lead edge of the brake pad wiping across the slots....
It should go away with regular driving... If not change the pads.
I use AC/Delco Durastop ceramics with my D+S rotors...
no noise.

Thanks for the input. I'll drive it a while longer and see if the problem corrects itself. If not, I'll replace the pads.
