Usually its just the ground connection is loose, the message will also dispaly if you let go of the key to soon when you start the car. That is the only time I have seen the message is when I let go of the key to soon. Im sure someone else will chime in with other problems that they have had.
I had this problem once, turned out it was just a loose connection on the starter. It was an easy fix to a perplexing problem.
The car just started loosing charging amps on the freeway until it flat out died
I was flustered, thought for sure it was the alternator, but it was just said commection
I had NO idea this could happen like this with just a loose connection.
I had this problem just 2 weeks ago. About 2 months ago i had this warnikg message on the motorway ( charging droped to 10V) Then i reduced speed and changed to 2 gear for higher rpm to chceck is it belt maybe. It went back to 14V and was fine till 2 weeks ago. The message stayed on all the time then I drained the battery all warning lights form abs tracktion etc went off and car died. I checked all earth wires but there were ok. I gave alternator for reconditioning, it was voltage regulator.
