I just changed my low beam bulbs on my 2001. I lifted the hood, lamps down and just reached in the back and turned normal counter clockwise about a quarter or half turn and pulled out the socket, changed the bulb and re installed.
I have small hands so maybe it was easier for me. I didn't take anything off for access. Hope that helps.

It takes a little more force than expected--I just changed the hi and low beams in my 2000 coupe. It helps if you wiggle it a little and maybe push in as you turn--seems to help release any build-up which may be locking the seals in. Good luck

I took the top covers off when I changed mine. That way you can see better what you are doing. It's a little trickey if you are putting in high beams in the lower socket housings. They don't fit quite right. Some times you will have to add double o-rings to get a snug fit.

Helps if you hold your mouth just right too.

put the headlights up, then remove the black plasitc covers, (two or three screws on each cover, just can't recall right now, ) then remove the rubber bumper for the hood, and this should provide enough room to get you big mitts in there to remove the bulbs........it worked for me anyway.

On some MY's pre 02 the socket metal clips are really week and if you get the bulb crooked in there and try to pull it out you will bend the metal tabs and then have a loose bulb. Goto this website and see the instructions he has posted for his HID swap. It has pictures of how to drop the assembly for easy access. www.djmotorsportaccessories.com (supporting vendor) the instructions are under the car pictures.
