I am not sure after reading here. Is it that they are bad from a long time ago or what? What do the revised ones have that the others don't? How do i know whether I buy the revised ones?
I had some bad hooker headers on another car. They werent' near as expensive.
StrongC5 I was told that I had the revised ones, so I don't know if I really did. Judging from amount of feedback on this topic, I'm not the only one with this problem. I know now that I will be looking into other brands of headers. Wish I could post pics of where this stupid thing broke at.
What was revised about them? I talked to a tuner about headers and he told me they should be taken off the car to be fixed if they crack and that would cost me labor time. Did TPS cover you on that? I see they are about the cheapest in price. I just don't want to have any problems down the line. I drive mine daly and can't afford to be without it for very long as it is.
Our past experience with TPIS is that they do not stand up and take responsibility if their product is faulty. Sure they may get you a new header if you catch the problem before the install, but if the problem happens after the install, you will end up eating the labor costs.
We had this happen with a few past customers of ours when we sold TPIS products. We even did what we could out of our own pocket to make it right for the customer. We decided that we do not do business with a company that would leave its customers/dealers hanging like this. Thus, we do not carry TPIS products.
If you look at the design of the small air tubes, you see they are made of cheap thin metal and have no real support.
Due to their lengths, they are vibrating and the more radical the cam/engine is the more they are prone then to crack.
The one I saw a few weeks ago were the newer style that has a bit larger air tubes with angles into the welds and it was cracked also :smash:
I have had two sets of TPIS go bad (out of 20)in the last three months. Since then, TPIS has revised the air tube design. I hope the fix works. I still think its a great header for the money...but, its not if I end up replacing and having to warranty these often.
Belanger headers are the best out there but they are pricey. We are the exclusive dealer for them, watch for special pricing soon.
Nate, I have gotten the same answers about TPIS customer service from several others this is why I haven't even bothered taking them out. Now with the tube totally cracking off I will have to do something, I will check into the Belenger. Thanks for the input form you and everyone else, maybe TPIS will hear us.

Best in terms of what? Please explain. Are there any measured HP numbers?
I have a hard time understanding that a Tri-Y design header could be the "BEST" long tube solution out there. As has been stated many times, that type of header really only shines at low and mid range rpms. This may be fine for your average driver but what about people that race and have their car above 5000rpm all the time on the track?
Belanger headers were one if not the first header available for the C5. They are not a new company and I have known about them for at least three years. The deal is, another company/vendor had them exclusive but never promoted the header. I had to go through the exclusive vendor for them so I did not promote them or sell many of them (I like to be direct with the manus). Since the move to AZ, we have picked up the Belanger header line so Xtreme is now the exclusive dealer for these. I will be promoting these heavy because I believe in them. The manufacturers claim is 22hp and close to the same in trq(I dont remember the exact number). As soon as we receive our new Dynojet, we will install these on a customers car and dyno them. The fit and finish is excellent with the same or better in quality as compared to the TTS header.
TTS and Belanger are the best MADE headers available. The TTS header uses too small of primaries in my opinion. The install is not the best either.
Belangers utilize the bigger primary tubes and the install is as easy as the TPIS. The Belangers use collector flanges for connection at the cats like the TTS. The TPIS use a slip type h pipe connection at the cats.
I will have pics and offer the Belangers in the CF Mall soon. Thanks!
Like I wrote, I will dyno these as soon as possible and other vendors will be dynoing these also.
The tri y design using 1 3/4 primaries will do fine at all rpms as well as head and cam cars. Think about it, it makes sense, the best of all worlds, using bigger primaries for the top end.
1 5/8 primaries are a different story...
Nate, I respectfully and complety disagree with you about tri-y designs being best for high rpm and competition.
4 into 1 tuned headers will always outperform a tri-y at high rpm and competition. Its a fact of physics, scavenging principles, etc.
If Belanger's tri-y outperforms a 4 into 1 at mid to high rpm, its simply because the current 4 into 1's on the market arnt done right. And I dont beleive that.
