Guys,

I just spoke with Terry at TPIS and he said that he hasn't had a single cracked case of C5 headers within the last 8 months. This is because they changed the design of the headers. They have changed the tubes and the way they are bent. Before the tubes were straight at the bottom and pressure and heat was causing them to crack. Now, they have put bends in the tubes and this now allows the tube to flex where it was not able to before. He reassured me that they will NOT crack.

I guess that takes care of this concern with TPIS' headers cracking.

I have to disagree with the fact that TPIS doesn't stand behind their dealers or their products. With us, they have helped us and stood behind their C5 long tube headers 100% since we started carrying them.

Hope this helps clear up any confusion on cracking and service issues.

Shawn

I guess I've been lucky so far. My shop even commented about the awesome quality and fit. All they do is build performance race and street cars. Mine are less than a year old and have only seen maybe a couple thousand miles.

It's easy for a dealer to return headers sitting on the floor versus the poor customer who has to yank them out, ship them back while the car then is stuck on jackstands in their garage, wait for them to ship them back and then fight them back in for the install.
It's worse for those of us who also have oil coolers and sump where we also have to rip all the braided hoses out to get the headers out.

This is not the first thread on this forum ( or others ) where customers are saying their TPIS headers are cracking NOW, not 8 months ago.
so the answer is from the vendor "trust us" all those who got headers before the new design, uuh shucks, just fix them,
and for new customers,, even though many got wacked due to a bad design, "trust us" now. :smash:

I personally saw a new designed version and the longest airtubes were cracked and this was on a '01 C5, thus they were not on for very long time.

They might not be seeing all the cracked headers because the end user has not gone through the hell of puling them out and playing the wait game or the costs of paying someone to do the labor.
This does not even answer the other flaw where the slipfit ends of headers that cats mount to leak and are not sealing.

We went though this marketing hype before, if the vendor really wanted to undo the defective product of theirs we got stuck with, is they send us new headers FIRST, with a paid returned shipper, this way we could do te swap the same day, have a box big enough to ship them back.

strongc5,

TPIS does offer a warranty on the quality and materials, so if you have a problem with them, they will take care of them.

Thanks!

How long is that warranty for?

Do you have any tests for gains on a 2000?
