Smog comparison after 6 years......
....and I passed all tests, both visual and tailpipe!
Here's the comparo:
What is interesting is that my car's emissions looked much better compared to the max in 2001. Why the state would lower the max possible HCs and such for older vehicles over the years is beyond me. What's next - HC max of 30 PPM? Heck, ALL the C5s would probably fail. Is that what they want? Word to the wise: I have a stock cam; do not install a bigger cam and expect to squeek by the sniffer test. If OEM cams are this close, beware of anything bigger (in CA).
The good news is that swapping out intakes and my oil-removing coalescing filter went quickly. I now have another 2 years in which to enjoy my "enhanced" power output and superior PCV line oil trapping before swapping back to OEM again.
