Here is the story. I have a LS1 engine in a 2001 Corvette. (Has 18,000 miles on engine and it blew a bearing). What are my options?. It has the standard rear axle and the automatic transmission. Is there a way to swap the engine to a LS6 motor? If so. What are the steps to the conversion? Please let me know. Thanks to all who participate in advance!!!
Why not just get a nice used LS1 block (or yours) & build it up stronger than a factory LS6?
As far as I can remember, the LS6 block offers no advantage over an LS1...it's supposed to be a little weaker actually...but make sure to use the LS6 valley cover, LS2 timing chain, LS6 intake..etc...

Why would it be weaker? It has these little windows cast in at the bottom of the block for breathing purposes but I don't think that would weaken it any. I agree though, don't bother dropping a stock LS6 in, get something a little more... fun
