Default Cam ????

Will a cam by itself make much of an improvement? I was considering the Z06 cam, it's not too expensive ($166 @ GMPartsdirect.com)

Opinions?

Yes, it will. The problem with a Z06 cam is, it only produces 340 RWHP with LS6 heads. I personally would pick a bigger aftermarket cam for a little bit more money. If you are not a DIYer, the install is going to be the biggest cost anyways.

I agree with going a little bigger. I know the LS6 cam is cheap but you get what you pay for. I would suggest something like a comp cams 216/220 cam or our 218/218 cam. They both will still idle like stock but produce more then the LS6 cam. If you go with our cam you will need to change springs, retainers, and push rods. It is more money to spen, but you also get more out of it. The Comp 216/220 cam is a little cheaper because you can still use your stock retainers, but you do still need to change the springs, and the push rods should be changed also since the stock ones are prone to bending with the even the stock cam.
