I just bought my first Corvette two weeks ago and am still getting familiar with the car. It is an 02 Coupe 6-speed (Its PEWTER). I've got some questions.
1. My dipstick is curly! I mean it starts twisting at the handle and keeps going to the tip!! Are they supposed to be like that? I don't know if mine got damaged somehow (stop giggling... )
2. My CLB plan - I posted my approach on the sticky after reading it. I know this subject has been beaten to death, and I think I know what to do. I'd just like to get some others opinions. Thanks.
3. Is it possible to drive this thing without grinning? I haven't been able to yet.
Thank you in advance, there is a wealth of knowledge here!!
My dipstick is long and straight, I think thier is something wrong with your dipstick. Does it register any oil on it? I think I would get a new one (or go to the doctor).
Please note that there are two dipsticks used on C5s. The early years (not sure of the cut off year) show 6.5 quarts full at the top of the cross hatch area, the normal full mark.
Later years show 6.5 quarts full at the middle of the hatched area.
This is why some say it takes 7 quarts to fill their C5, they have a later year C5 and are overfilling by 0.5 quarts.
If you don't jack up the rear of your C5 higher than the front while draining oil you will leave 4 ounces of oil in your system.

3. Is it possible to drive this thing without grinning? YES...when the DIC lights up with "Service ABS, Active handling, Traction Control"
