I've had a couple of trips in the Vette now with the bushing fix and I am quite happy with the results. So far, this is one of those rare instances where something that I figured should work, actually did work. With the nylon washer fix, and one bushing, the rocking chair is virtually eliminated.
Why add only a front bushing? I really noticed the rocking chair during acceleration, when the front of the seat came up (my butt is squarely parked in the back). I was nervous about drilling out the existing hole in the aluminum housing to accommodate the 1/2" OD bushing; I only wanted to do it twice if it was really necessary. The remaining aluminum wall thickness, after drilling is adequate, but not robust -- fortunately a standard 1/2" drill bit is precisely the right size for the bushing.
If you chose to replace both locations with bushings, be mindful that hole alignment becomes especially important when you try to slide tight-fitting bushings into their respective shafts.
I'll report back if it ever becomes necessary to add the rear bushing. Since I quit using the easy entry/exit seat feature long ago, wear and tear should be limited to seat use and occasional adjustments. Hopefully this will last long enough for C6 seats to become as inexpensive as two hours of labor and a two dollar bushing.
I just did this mod with the turnbuckles and it fixed mt seat 100%. No more rocking. I took photos of the install of the bottom of the seat so you can see in great detail how these attach, I also used Blue Threadlocker on the turnbuckles to help lock them from moving.
I would like to thank the original poster of the photos and how it was done for saving me some $$$.
I installed the turnbuckles today to try to stop my seat from rocking. I've already tried the bushings and that did not work for me (my stock bushings were still perfectly fine). Unfortunately this didn't work as well I had hoped. I set my chair to my default settings (rear all the way down, front up ~3) while plugged in and then proceeded to remove the chair. I attached the turnbuckles and tightened them as tight as possible.
When I put the chair back in, I noticed no improvement on the rocking at my default height. I did notice that if I lowered my seat front all the way down, the base really tightened up, so much that there is no rocking at all. I'm not sure if adjusting the tilt made the turnbuckles tighter, or if this was possible even before installing this mod, but it worked in this position.
Unfortunately its very uncomfortable for me to drive in that position, I prefer support under my thighs, but for a solid seat, it might be worth it. I took some pictures:
Took the seat out today and the Turnbuckles are still tight, I clearly have other issues with the seat tracks. The extended Warranty company I have said the seat mechanism is covered under the Warranty along with my Gas Gauge Sending Unit and E-Brake mechanism.
