Default Help getting clutch off

Got a LS6 crate motor. Trying to get the pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel off (which will be for sale soon). Got the pressure plate and clutch off no problem.

Loosened the bolts holding the flywheel on. Flywheel won't fall off. Like something "springy" is keeping it on. I cannot seem to pull the bolts out either. They are loose, but it's like something is puposely keeping them in place.

Are there any how-tos with pics on how to do this?

Jeff

The hub of the flywheel is a line fit with the crankshaft hub. You need to slowly walk it off by pulling one side out then the opposite. It takes some time to do it right, so go slow with it. Bolts should come right out, unless you rotated the flywheel against them and they are pinned in place.

Thanks. It's still no cooperating. I literally cannot remove the bolts. Even with a plier or a screwdriver hehind the head.

This is a 2005 LS6 crate. Which is the CTS-V motor. I did a little research and for the CTS-V they used a dual mass flywheel clutch? I wonder if that is what I am looking at because the flywheel appears to be in two distinct pieces.

Hmm that's weird. If you can't get the bolts out, I'm thinking the previous poster might have been right. If the flywheel rotated slightly on the crank, you'd be pinning the bolts in their holes. But that doesn't make sense, because I'm assuming you took the bolts out one at a time. The first bolt you removed should have come all the way out - there's no way anything could have moved with all the other bolts in there.

Or did you try loosening all the bolts before removing them? If you did I would retighten them all and them remove them one by one.

How much force have you tried using to pull the flywheel off? I'm not entirely sure how much it takes, but a prybar should make quick work of it. I just wondering what the actual problem is and if forcing it would hurt things worse. I've never even seen a dual mass flywheel myself.

The flywheel is loose, meaning I can turn it left and right a good distance. I just can't pull it off.

I think I need a bearing puller to get that inner bearing off as noted in this thread...

The pics look different but I think I gotta pull that bearing out?

The bearing is inside of the crank, it doesn't even touch the flywheel. Check my install guide: http://www.cajundude.com/c5techhome.htm

3rd link down on the right side.

I removed and installed the new bearing with the flywheel off the car, it sits flush with the outside of the crank.

Got it. Was able to 'walk' it off. Just took some time.
