New Rough Idle

New Rough Idle
After installing my oil catch can, im suddenly getting a rough idle the next morning. I ran it the night of the install and it was fine or atleast I didnt notice.
Now it jumps between 400 and 900 RPM and a fairly fast pace, but after driving it a mile or so the idle is nice and smooth at 600.
Could it be the catch can? or any other ideas?
I have the oil catch can lines running from behind the valve to to top connector of the can, then the lower connector (not the drain) running to where the old hose I took of came from.
Now it jumps between 400 and 900 RPM and a fairly fast pace, but after driving it a mile or so the idle is nice and smooth at 600.

Any chance you dis-connected your battery for the catch can install? If so, the PCM is relearning several settings including correct idle...after you drive it several times it should come back to normal...but give it enough driving cycles for the PCM to reset all functions, before you resort to using the Idle Relearn procedure.

The relearn idle procedure is very simple. If you have a 6 speed, basically you just need to have the car warmed up to at least 176F and put the car in neutral (with emergency brake) and turn off all accessories. Let it run for about 5 minutes and then shut off the car. Wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. Thats all you have to do.

If you have a 6 speed, basically you just need to have the car warmed up to at least 176F and put the car in neutral (with emergency brake) and turn off all accessories. Let it run for about 5 minutes and then shut off the car. Wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. Thats all you have to do.
Tonight while it was idling and jumping it even actually died on me. The Service Engine Soon comes on after 20+ mins of highway driving but no codes.

Would this cause it to smoke lightly to medium on start ups too?
