Default Center console area is very hot

Im a new corvette owner and the center console area is very hot while driving. You can feel very hot air coming out from under the center console and around the shifter area. Its hot to the touch. Is this normal for this car or do i need new firewall?

Holy crap you ain't kiddin it gets hot there!,I checked mine one day with one of those laser temp guns,It was 105 degree's inside the center console,I couldn't even leave my hand on it.Over the winter I had the torque tube out,I put insulation all through the torque tube tunnel and covered the tunnel brace and also put insulation underneath the console.Next time I go for a ride I'll check the temp.It did get alot cooler there now,When I touch inside the center console its not that hot,Alittle warm ..................Paul

Totally normal and the fix is to install a ceramic coated tunnel plate.

I did the Elite Eng tunnel plate aluminum w/ ceramic coating. Now they have that plate w/ insulation attached too which would be even better. Also it makes the car more rigid on cornering almost like a sway bar upgrade. Lastly, I added relectix insulation from Lowe's and put it all under the console which also helps.
