Default Normal Coolant Temp??

I picked up a 99 FRC and I can't decide if my coolant temps are normal. On a moderate temperature day, my coolant will reach 230 and bounce back to 219 when the fans kick on. I've left my car idling for 30 minutes to see if I could get it to over heat but it continued to drop down to 219. My question is, is this temperature normal? What does everyone else run in their vettes as far as temperatures during the summer time during traffic/ cruising.

In an attempt to lower my temps, I've flushed out my dexcool, ran cleaner through the coolant system and I'm currently waiting for my 160 T-stat to come in. Any comments or suggestions would greatly appreciated.

It's normal, and the only way to make it run cooler at idle is to reprogram the fan setpoints.

Everything was normal. The engine is fine with those temps. Once you start moving on the highway at 55 or so the temp should come down to about 195. Without changing the fan turn on the temps will stay the same even with the 160F thermo.

turn on the air-condition and the fans will run at idle which will keep temps under 196*

Better clean out the debris, grass, paper, whatever, that gets trapped in and between the two part cooling system (radiator and a/c condensor) before you do anything else. Changing to a 160 thermo will just make it open sooner, once it's open the temp will go right back where it was before. The thermostat controls the minimum temp, not max.

1) go up to the top of this page - you'll "find search" in the red banner running across the page
2) LS1 Edit is very good, I prefer HPTuners.

You do not know how many people think this is the other way around.

My 99 FRC runs the same temp also, I was kinda curious.. I knew they ran hotter but wasnt sure.
