DTC codes wont clear?

DTC codes wont clear?
My 2003 ZO6 check engine light popped up on the way to work this morning.
When I got home pulled the codes using the excellent site (http://www.corvettedoctor.com/2004_DTC_Codes.html) that Bill Curlee has referenced in the past.
The codes are the same ones I get occasionally.... P0420 HC and C1287 HC. The first I figured was a fluke, I have gotten it once or twice before in the course of 6 months. The other is my steering column sensor, guess I will eventually have to replace it.
Here's the problem though - on the site says to press the reset button to clear the codes. I've done it before. THIS time it won't work - I press the button and nothing happens.
I'm like.... HUH? Any suggestions?
