Default Ordering parts from the LAPD?

I recently ordered my first major performance part for my C5. I bought it from the LAPD online. I know they are a reliable vendor as they support the forum and I've heard good things from them here. They don't seem to have any kind of an order status link on their web site. I sent an e-mail to the sales as suggested in the order confirmation e-mail yesterday but I haven't gotten any replies yet. I placed the order on Friday, even though it was a holiday weekend I figured I would have gotten a shipping confirmation by now. anyone know how I can find out the status of my order?

Default Try Calling

I would try calling them. I have ordered from them in the past and never had a problem.

The phone # is 818-998-DYNO.

That is very odd. I would call them and ask for Shawn. If Shawn is not there, ask for Al.

I am sure they will get you the info you need.

thanks for the help, I think I will give them a call. one of the advantages of them being all the way on the other side of the country is I can call after work and it will still be afternoon there. I'm really surprised I haven't gotten any e-mails other than the automatic confirmation yet...

I bet if you would have ordered your part Monday or Tuesday instead of waiting until Friday of a three day holiday weekend then you would not be dealing with a perceived problem you caused. DUH!!!!!!Frank

Hey you are the first person I have ever seen on any forum from Lumberton. I grew up there as a child. I imagine it has changed quite a bit.

Thanks Shawn! I was just going to call over to LAPD to check on everything when Shawn called me first! That's great customer service and I didn't even expect it. these guys are

It probably was a mistake to order when I did, I knew that the order wouldn't get received until Tuesday but I really wanted to try to get it in by the end of this week so I could install it on Sunday when I get back. I'm going out of town all next week and returning late Saturday night. I was hoping that tuesday-friday would be enough time but I guess it wasn't, my fault! Either way, thanks for getting in touch with me, I appreciate you helping me to work out out for the best.

I hope you have better luck than I'm having with my order from them. It's a long story but the bottom line is I'm still waiting for a replacement of the defective part that I originally ordered on 2-27.

sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm sure you will get it. the guys at LAPD have great customer service. I wish their web site had an order status system on it, but other than that they seem pretty good. have you tried calling them? they're really friendly and helpful.

Default Vendor question

While we're on the subject of vendor's--how does PFYC rate? I am thinking of ordering the export headlights from them and they are ~$50 cheaper than LAPD. Thanks in advance.

I've ordered some small parts from PFYC and they were pretty good. they communicated well and got my parts to me quickly. they also have an order tracker feature so you can always know what's going on.

I've found that you have to shop around some. fortunately we have a great community of good vendors. LAPD has some of the lowest prices I've found on things like the Vararam and Borla catback. but they are like $500 more expensive than some other vendors on the HID headlight conversion!

Keep in mind that LAPD price matches. That should take care of that.

If they price match they sure didn't do it on my purchase and I did specifically ask. I paid almost twice what I could have got the item for elsewhere. To add to the frustration they procured the item from another vender that was having a sale on it at the time I ordered. In all fairness they did start the ball rolling on getting my replacement but they basically just handed me off to the manufacturer and then washed their hands of the matter. No follow up at all and no response to my last email. So I'm still waiting for my part.

Why would you are anyone purchase something from a company and pay almost twice the price when you could save almost 100% for the same thing somewhere else???? Sorry but I don't understand. Is there something not being mention in this story?? Frank

That's the problem when you're ordering parts from the internet. You don't have the opportunity to do a comparison in person. That's why I asked them about the specifics before ordering but all I got was a vague description. Since it wasn't a real high dollar item I just figured I'd take a chance and pay the extra money in the hopes that they were of a better quality than the lower cost ones. I mean, a company wouldn't charge you twice as much for the same item would they? Just one of those little lessons learned. It just seems pretty short sighted on the part of the vender though. They gained a little profit but lost out on my future business on some items that would have been much more lucrative for them.
I expect that there will be problems with purchases from time to time but it's how they are dealt with that makes the difference to me. As an example I had some issues with some items that I purchased from Vette Essentials but Matt stayed on top of the situation untill I was satisfied with the outcome and even went as far as giving me a price adjustment as compensation for my troubles. Because of his great customer service I will be ordering additional items from him. In the end we both come out ahead.
And there is probably more to the story. That's why I'm usually hesitant to post problems with vendors. Not only might they have a different take on the situation, but my experience doesn't mean that they wont give someone else satisfactory service. They don't always have control over the actions of their suppliers but since the payment went to them I think they should have done a better job of monitoring the situation. For my part I could have kept them better informed about the problems I was still having with the order but it was at their request that I was dealing directly with the manufacturer.
