Default Shocks...if replace fronts with different style...

Okay guys,

I'm looking for a shock to replace one that was screwed up yesterday. I need part number 22064828, but it's ridiculously expensive at the dealership (over $700 for one), so I'm looking at other options. I see the C6 Z shocks are cheap for a set, but if I change one, how many do I have to change (ie, 1, 2, or all 4).

Thanks,
Josh

Huh, $700.00 for ONE shock??? I've heard of "sticker shock," but I can't believe $700.00 for one shock is correct - which shock do you need - a Z06 shock, stock shock, adjustable shock or what??

Okay guys, they did a vin lookup at first...and it was an f45 shock, though that is not the shock that was on my car. They finally, at my request, got the number off the actual shock that was damaged, and it's only $125, so I just had them order it.

Just FYI - I got 4 c6 z06 shocks (direct bolt-in) for about 220 shipped from Gene at GMPartsHouse.com. Maybe you want to cancel that order?

Good thing you asked and knew to question that price or I think they might have tried to slip it to you. Another benefit of the corvette ownership sharing information and helpin a vetter out great forum
I suggest changing them all for 225 to c6z06 shocks you will wind up doing it right and for only 100 more your ahead almost $500 so buy some new golf clubs too

If you change one, you should change all to match. Sounds like your car initially had the RTD (Real Time Damping - RPO code F45) suspension installed. One option is to upgrade the car to the newer F55 suspension, GM makes a kit to do this under part number 12499507

You'll know if the car originally had RTD if you have a switch on the console that allows you to select between Touring, Sport, etc. modes.
