Default Service Traction Control System

So...what might be wrong if this message shows up in the dash??? This message has shown up 3 times...went off after disconnecting the battery for a while...next two times the message came on towards the end of my trip home from work but did not come back on for a few days each time. One time the light and message came on during a burnout around a corner...The message has not re-appeared for over a week but i'm still curious...

Check the codes on the DIC and let us know what they are. To check codes push and hold the options button while pushing the fuel button 4 times. Have a pencil and paper ready so you can write them down.

Check this out I got it off Jack Lathems site:
9.8.) What is the intermittent "Service ABS" and "Service Traction Control" light mean?

This has a number of causes, which you will have to investigate, or have the dealer do. This is not a complete list either, since new causes have come up and gone in the past that I can't seem to re-find. The basic reason is that the ABS computer can't read the wheel-speed sensors properly, which disables the ABS, which in turn disables the traction control/active handling. (if equipped).
Bad connection between various ABS sensor wiring harnesses
Failing ABS Wheel speed sensor (requires replacing wheel bearing)
Bad connection for ABS fuse in fusebox
Malfunctioning ABS computer ("EBTCM")
Malfunctioning Body control module ("BCM") - under passenger footwell
Failing/Misaligned/Problematic steering sensor (Active Handling cars only)
Evil spirits (apparently the cause of mine :-( )

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the site http://www.jakelatham.com/c5/misc/faq.shtml#2-1

Take a look there is a lot of good stuff here!

Thanks,Matt

I'm seeing conflicting information about checking error codes on the DIC for C6s. Can anyone confirm if trouble codes on a C6 can actually be checked on the DIC like on the C5s? Thanks.

Just an FYI, you asked this in the C5 Tech area.
You may have been bitten by the forum 'related thread' bug.

Thanks - yes, I saw that but it's ok I have a C5 and C6 so wanted to see the responses, here. I've always gotten good responses in the C5 forum.
