Just finished installing a used ( I know but I'm cheap) RAM clutch in my 01 coupe. After bleeding it the pedal feels great, almost two good maybe like it never comes completely disengaged. It shifts great but under heavy acceleration the clutch seems to slip. I also install a hardened output shaft at the same time. I hear no noise from the rear end, is it possible I messed something up there? Should I just try rebleeding my clutch, even though the pedal feels great. Thanks in advance.

Does the RAM require a shim? Not sure myself. How did you bleed? Most people don't do it correctly.

 

I used the shim that came with the clutch. I have a remote bleeder. Just pump then close the bleeder and repeat. Clutch pedal feels great. No play, seems to engage at the right time. If I accelerate hard around 3000rpm it slips bad. Would this even be a bleeding problem?

 

Almost sounds like the shim wasn't needed and you are not getting full disc pressure. I would contact RAM and talk to them.

 

I was thinking the same thing. I hope thats not the case, don't really feel like pulling the whole thing apart again. Maybe someone can let me know if I would get the same symptoms from not having the clutch bled right.

 

Don't think an improper bleed is going to cause it to slip. Maybe not release fully, but not slip. The TOB would have to be putting pressure on the fingers for that (slip), and if there was air in the lines, I don't think it would be doing that.

As stated above, sounds like the TOB is to far forward and putting pressure on the fingers. Either that or the used disc you put in is toast

 

So I just went out and tried all the things I have read today. If I let the clutch out on first on level ground the car dies. If I accelerate hard doing 50mph in 5th gear almost nothing but slip. I thought the used clutch may have been bad but it looked 100 times better then the one I took out and I had no slipping with that one. I'll try one more bleed and if that doesnt then I'll be pulling everything back out. Thanks for all the help guys

 

so before I go tear my car apart again. Can someone confirm that an improper bleed will not cause my clutch to slip. I cant imagine that this clutch slips this bad and I would hate to tear it all apart because I'm doing something wrong

 

Check for any fluids which may be on the disc surface and if not, try to deglaze it, maybe....
