Default Front Lowering Bolt Question...

Is it possible to remove the front lowering/bushing bolts from your car without having to remove everything? Installing the front Z51 spring required moving the cailper out of the way, the steering rod and all kinds of other little things that equalled ALOT of work. Anyone have a better way?

Thanks,

Micah

Could you (carefully) cut the bolt and remove the two pieces? They're not available separately from GM though, so you might need them in the future.

I have a set from my old springs, so cutting is an option.

I think I've read there are plastic threaded inserts in the springs, so a very clean cut/dressing should minimize any potential damage.

IIRC, you need to disconnect the lower shock mounts and the sway bar end link. At that point you should be able to support the spring and push the lower control arm down far enough to unscrew the adjuster.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

I replaced both of my springs this past weekend with Z06 springs. It took 2.5 hours from start to finish. Really pretty simple.

You can do it with just taking the wheel off. I have lowered 5 or 6 without taking them apart, but I did have 1 where the bolts wouldnt turn and I had to take everything apart.

May give it a shot this weekend or next. I will probably end up with a similiar case that the $%&*in bolt won't back out and I will have to remove everything.
