Default Cat installation with off-road setup

Hey everyone,

My car has Kooks 1 7/8" headers, Kooks 3" off-road X to GHL Bullets. I would like to install a pair of Random Tech cats and am wondering if anyone has modified an off-road setup like this. It will be cost effective to install used cats rather than buy a Kooks catted X-pipe since they are near impossible to fund used.

So, I really just need to know if there is any reason that my existing setup will not support this mod.

Thanks.

I just ordered cats to install with my LG Pro system, that doesn't have a provision for their placement. Their newer systems have shortie pipes that you remove, and substitute cats. Maybe your Kooks are like mine. I just plan on removing the midpipe (with X) and measuring it's length, then sliding on the cats, measuring again, and cutting off the difference. My buddys' got a metal chop saw, so that part is pretty easy.

Thanks for the feedback. I plan on getting under the car tonight to take a look so will see if that's an option.

Were you planning to weld them in or fab some flanges so you can bolt/unbolt them whenever you want. That's my plane when I get around to doing LTs. Stupid CA smog.

My LG system is all slip-fit, not flanged. Don't know if this compares.

Planning on welding them in. I have intention of removing them once installed.

Mine is flanged so the only way I see this working is to have someone cut the pipe and weld them in or perhaps expand the cats for slip fit (which would be prefered incase they ever need to be replaced). Ofcourse this relies on someone with the ability to work with stainless.

Andy,
I have four different types of stainless rod in my welding rack. Todd and I both are damn good stainless welders. Give me a call if you need some help.

Thanks Randy,

I will take you up on that!

I won FTD on Saturday but lost out to Lyle on Sunday since I ran street tires and he was on slicks
