It's when you don't lift the throttle while shifting a manual car.
Def. Agree. When I got into racing I did it all the time when racing in my Camaro ( I still own) and actually went through a tranny mount. Was scary as hell when it snapped becuase it looked like my shifter was trying to punch me in the face everytime I gave it any gas. Needless to say I learned my lesson and no longer do that.
Power shifting = quick way to break your transmission.
normally it is very quick shift to get onto back on to the power / throttle
Don't even think about doing this on a C5. If you want to do it on a mustang where you can get a junkyard T5 for $200...have at it...but not on a $2000+ transmission that requires a lift and a ton of effort to swap!
Thats where you don't lift, and don't clutch in...
Without a highly modified tranny, I defy anyone to be able to pull the shifter hard enough to get it OUT of gear while under full throttle. Not to even mention getting it IN the next gear without a clutch.

No argument here. Even if it could be done, I won't be trying it.
How much worse is powershifting during a drag race as opposed to lifting off the throttle. When I powershift the transition from one gear to the next is smooth, the car doesn't have to transfer weight back to the rear and rmps remain smooth assuming all is done right. If you lift the nose falls and the car has to work harder on the next shift. Plus you are constantly loading and unloading all that stress on the car as opposed to a consistant smooth stress on the car.
