Default New C5 Owner needs help

Hey gang, got a 2001 C5 Coupe last September. It has 130K miles, but checked out (they could not believe it had so many miles on it after a full check) great at the Chevy dealership. I got a really good price on it and I decided to buy it instead of waiting another 5 years to get a brand new one or a used Porsche.

Really love it and can't wait to start doing upgrades to the performance after I get the basics fixed. After having reviewed the board a bit I see that I have several of the maladies known to C5 owners (seat memory going, driver door does not lock with fob, right headlight motor whirrs after turning it off,...). Am going to attack it one at a time.

I got new struts for the hatchback and getting ready to replace them tomorrow. Can anyone help me with the procedure, step by step?

(I cannot afford the shop manuals right now)

Thanks gang.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the Forum. Hope you have many happy miles with your car!

Here you go:

Open and support the rear lift window panel.

Disconnect the lower rear defogger electrical connector from the strut.
Reposition the retaining clip outward from the struts lower ball socket using a small flat-bladed tool.
Pull the strut from the lower ball stud.

Reposition the retaining clip outward from the struts upper ball socket.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the upper end of the strut.
Remove the strut from the upper ball stud.
Installation Procedure

Connect the defogger lower electrical connector to the strut.
Install the strut with the rod side down to the lower bracket.
Install the strut to the upper bracket.
Connect the defogger upper electrical connector.

Remove the lift window panel support and close the lift window panel.
