Id say 10-15 hours is more realistic as far as actual time to complete installation. I think it took me about 12 and that was in my garage using jack stands. As far as cost I dont know as I did mine myself. If you wanted to try and do it yourself there is alot of good information and step by step instructions here on the forum.

it goes back together much easier than it comes apart! do yourself a favor and upgrade everything you can while you're in it. you only want to take it apart once i promise!
The step by step is on LS1HowTo.com as rcs128 stated. Use the search tool to look up cam installs, I know I've read some walkthroughs posted by other members, but I dont recall the titles.
Im doing heads and cam right now, im at about 10 hours and i have the new cam in and new heads on. If yoru only doign cam, id say 10 hours and you would be all done. BTW, thi sis my first time doign it, so its not like im flying through or anything
