Default Car is laggin need help.

so recently i noticed that my car is losing power. i feel like my throttle reponse is getting weaker. specially on the freeway. so i was thinking that i might need to clean the TB and the maf. im planning on cleaning the TB with any TB cleaner. im more worried about cleaning the MAF. i did a search and everybody seems to like the CRC electrical cleaner. can i get this at any autozone or kraigen. or is there a better method for cleaning the MAF. how about alcohol?

I use the CRC and yes you can get it at Auto Zone. As for the power loss I'm not sure. I'm having the same problem. I'm hoping it has something to do with the oil in the intake. I took mine apart today to clean the MAF and thats when I noticed the oil in the intake.

Good Luck, Bill

I just thought of something, my problem seemed to start after I installed my Vararam. I see that you have the same mod. Did you descreen your maf? Not sure if it would have anything to do with it but I descreened mine. I'm going to try putting the screen back and see what happens.

so i cleaned it today. an let me tell you. i couldnt believe that a maf sensor can get so dirty. it was completly covered in grease! so i gave it lots of spray of that CRC maf cleaner. that stuff works great it left it like new. I also cleaned the TB. it wasnt as dirty as i thought. know im playing with fuel mixtures to get a much better response

Cool! I think I'll be doing the same. How are you tuning the mixture? Is your car more responsive after cleaning?

well my buddy thinks that my problem would be the gas that im using. i always pump Shell 91. so this time i tried mixing union 76(91 oct) with 100 octane VP racing fuel and a bottle of techron. overall the response does fell a lil better.
