I was on the long haul power tour 1/4 mile from the last stop ( little rock, AR fair grounds) and I was driving on some rough bumpy pavement when I dropped a gear and stood on it, the car started to wheel hop and before I could get out of it, BOOM
I would guess it would be cheaper to buy a whole new diff thats already built. Obviously oe stuffs not gonna hold up to it. Thats a pretty good break though.

I was going to try and go with the Quaife Differential when I got some money together. They retail for about $1700. Do a google search also you can PM CF forum member- "jbsblownc5" about the Quaife.
They also have warnings in very large bold print that if you wheel hop even their rear, all bets are off and no warranty. I don't think anyone will for that matter.

That is correct.
If anyone puts there car through wheel-hop abuse and they break our products in the process, they are on their own and the driveline won't survive for long- even with the heaviest duty parts, as wheel-hop is that destructive....
Wheel-hop *IS* avoidable and controllable 100% of the time *IF* the user is so inclined to take the necessary steps to make it happen. Most don't....
I bought a new 3.42 Z06 rear diff for 1063.56 from gm parts direct.
The good thing about this unit is that it is all new. I will be putting the new 300mm long shaft I already have in this new unit.

Impressive blow-up....not much left useful in that unit
Phil has a good product, not to mention excellent customer service. He can build you a rear a bulletproof as you would like to spend (various "levels").
Speaking of DTE products, whats the latest on the cast iron case Phil??
Havent seen or heard much about it since the tradeshows....
Does it normally wheel hop or was this simply the result of the bad pavement you were on? If you get this all the time, DTE has a list of recommended suspension upgrades that will help eliminate it.
