After posting this in C5 General, I thought maybe the C5 Tech area would be more appropriate. Sorry for the cross posting.
Well, after 6 weeks of ownership, I needed to fix the Rocking Seats in 2001 coupe. It wasn't too bad, but enough to bug me. After reading all I could here on the wonderful corvetteforum Jandy and I decided to tackle the fix. We've always done all the work on all of our vehicles, and have a lot of different write-ups for various repairs/mods. This would be the first one we've done for the 'vette community. It's the least we can do to give back a little of what we take every day. I'd like to thank those that have given information on the Rocking Seat problem in the past, your info was instrumental in our taking on the task. By the way, if you are the least bit mechanical, you can do this fix! Stop living with the silly rocking seats, or 'rocking chairs' as I've been calling them.
Super easy fix. Even fun to do. I completed my quickly and easily, but did not shave down the new washers enough. Therefore, my seat would not travel all the way back. I pulled the screw shaft out and cut the 2 washers even with the top of the block as shown in step 24. All PERFECT now! Thanks for a superior write up.
P.S. On step #13, if you have trouble fitting a tool in to get the #40 off, since it is such a thick deep bolt, it is easy to "bite" the side of its head it with small round vice grips from the side.
Good luck, and thanks again for a GREAT wright up!
