Default Coolant Flush Issue?

In the midst of a coolant flush (after doing the research here...thanks guys). After the initial flush (drained about 2 gallons of coolant, replaced with 2 gallons of distilled water), after I had warmed up the car to 210 degrees, I went back under the car and noticed what appeared to be water dripping uderneath, passengers side, near the back of the engine bay...any ideas what this may be??? Some type of condensation?

Think I found it...I had half unscrewed the coolant tank cap and it was releasing coolant, which made its way down and onto my driveway...

Default A legit question

Yeah, I think I ge the dunce cap today...Actually, I think I have a more legitimate question...after the last flush, I added 6 qts of Dexcool, 2 bottles of Water wetter, and 2 qts of Distilled...I ran the car to get the mix going, and the coolant temp hit the roof (topped out at 248 degrees), I shut it down, started it back up, and the temp dropped like a rock to 180...any thoughts on why?

You probably want to get the air bubbles out before driving it.

Default Question on coolant flush of 2001 vette ls1 engine

HI THERE,
I did the coolant flush too.Original Coolant from the factory. 12,000 miles on the car.(car covered by gmpp) I put in a factory gm thermostat. As this is a convenient time to do so. (Made in brazil would you believe) After 3 flushes(using 6 gal distilled water) the coolant was clear. I added 6 qts. of 100% dexcool & 2 bottles(12oz. each) of red line water wetter, and 1 gal of distilled water, not mixed. This brought the coolant level past the surge tank full mark by about 1/2". Car runs fine. Temps. run between 187 & 195 on the highway on a 80 degree day.205 at idle. No change in coolant level or leaks.MY questions are: Is there any harm being done with a higher water level than the indexed mark on the surge tank? Could you see bubbles if you had air in the system?(by removing the cap & looking into the surge tank while running the engine?)If not how could you tell? How Do I know if I have the correct 50/50 mix? Should the last gal. of distilled water have been a 50/50 mix?If the mix is correct what would be the boil & freezing temperature points be? Thanks for your advice. ROB

What worked for me was to blend the distilled water and coolant prior to refilling. The way you did it your only choice is to do the math and add up the totals of coolant and water. Do you count water wetter as water?
