Default Shifting questions.....Please help.

I currently have an 03 Z with a Hurst short throw. I've been reading up on issues with the Hurst shifter regarding the notchy feeling of it. What got me interested in this is the fact that it seems like you just can't rip through the gears like one would imagine. What I had invisioned was something like slam(1st), slam(2nd), slam(3rd), slam(4th).........etc. In reality, it's more like a 2-point shift. (slam.click(1st), slam.click(2nd).....etc. I also did the "antivenom" mod with 1/8 thick washer. That made the shifts feel a little smoother, but it still feels like a 2-point shift. It also feels that way with the stock shifter. Is this just the way it is supposed to be??? Is there something else you guys have done to be able to just slap the gears back and forth??

Thanks for your help.

It's always going to be a 2-point shift, but to me, a 2-3 shift with a short throw (I have the BPP shifter) is much faster than stock. That's where short throws really shine!

It's normal, but annoying. I've found that going from a stock, to an aftermarket (BPP in my case) shifter will increase effort, and notchiness. I've since done the antivenom mod, and now have gone to the C6Z shifter. It's not perfect, but a big improvement. I carefully lined up the cable attachment when I installed it, and though it does have longer throws than the BPP, the effort is much less, and it's more precise than the original.
