I installed my new kirban shifter today and whoa what a nice change from stock! only touble I had with the install was setting the front stop screw. It called for .010 clearance for 1st and 3rd, but I was getting different readings for one when I set it for the other. Anyway kept messing with it and finally got it pretty close for all gears. took it out for a test drive before I put the console etc. back in and it worked great. I'm not sure if it has any effect on the pesky first gear engagment yet. I'll have to drive it some more to tell for sure. but its very precise and solid unlike the stock shifter. I love it. Took about an hour and a half total, but I be able to do it in about half that time now that I've done it.

how is the shifting from 2nd to 3rd? I am looking at the kirban and the hurst. from what i hear the kirban is amazing but apparently the hurst pulls the shifter over to third to reduce missed 3rd gears.
Unfortunately I've never shifted a Hurst so I can't provide a comparison, but I feel like the Kirban makes the 2-3 shift beautifully. No opportunity on missing 3rd.

The Kirban also has a centering mechanism, and the 2-3 shift is effortless. You can just push the stick with an open palm and it finds the gate every time. I have missed one or two shifts since I got it (2 yrs) but they were pure driver error.
I do more track days than drags, and I think the Kirban is better than the stiffer Hurst and B&M for that duty.

Our new B&M also centers nicely for 2nd to 3rd shifts.
Another very satisfied KIRBAN owner. Ii wouldnt give it up for nothing!!! The 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th shifts are just about fool proof if you use the correct hand placement. Most of the missed shifts are the result of monkey fisting the shifter. If you have a self centering shifter (KIRBAN) all you need to shift correctly is your fingers and the palm of your hand.
Ok, now after 2 days, about 100 miles on country back roads, and two adjustments of the front stop I am here to report that this KIRBAN shifter is abso-ficken-lutely wonderful, The pesky first gear engagement seems a thing of the past, the shifts are impossible to miss if you're paying attention, and the throw is short and crisp. love it love it love it. Best mod I've done yet. I'm thinking sway bars next...then probably a ticket on said back roads. Oh, well. Cheers!

I'm glad you like it. It was my first mod, and still probably my favorite. It's amazing how flimsy the stock unit is when you compare the two. The shifter is such an integral part of how you interact with the car, the right one can really enhance the driving experience.
Thanks for all the input. I really appreciate it! Sounds like I'm going to have to put an order in for the Kirban. Any recommendations on where to buy? I saw it on Lingenfelters website, but I've seen posts talking about doug rippie. Anyone know who's the cheapest and what shipping might be like to Canada. More specifically southern Ontario?

I happened to purchase mine from Lingenfelter. Of course there were no problems. Doug Rippie (DRM) is the same kind of company, I can recommend both. I'm not sure what DRM's price is (I don't believe the shifter is still listed on the website like it was) but I'd call (763)477-9272.

I've asked this before and no one had an answer...does anyone know who actually manufactures the KIRBAN shifter?
I like the removable lever idea which probably allows for HURST or LONG shifter lever replacement.

Hmmmm...I assumed Kirban fabbed their own stuff. Is there a reason you think otherwise?

Got mine from DRM at Doug's suggestion. IIRC, it was ~$190.

I didn't know if KIRBAN manufactured their own products or buy from someone for their resale. I suspected that they may have been built by HURST due to the bolt on stick design that no one uses for C5/Z06.
