hello again, for some reason my car won't stop pining between 4000 rpms and 5000 rpms . i tried sea foam in intake manifold twice, colder plugs gap at .50, new msd wires, next is knock sensors, and air temp sensor, but what i want to know is if the knock sensors are covered under warranty, and how will i know if they are bad. aslo want to know were the air temps senor is at and if there are any more. any advice would help and thanks again.

If the knock sensors were bad you would be getting a check engine light and the codes. You copuld always pull them out and clean them up.

Sounds like you may have the wrong plugs ... the correct plugs are the AC Delco Iridium plugs 41-985 pre-gapped (correctly) at .040 ... and I recommend the GM Performance plug wires (Part # 12495519 ) instead of the MSDs .... after that, if you've got a knock check for stored codes in the PCM. If the engine is knocking that badly the PCM should be sensing the problem.

ok these are the codes that are stored in the memory, i dont know what these codes mean and if they could be affecting the performance as far as the pinging goes.

DTC P1518
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Serial Data Circuit

DTC B2262-B2265
Mirror Position Sensor Signal Circuit

DTC B2282-B2285
Battery 1 or Battery 2 Voltage Out of Range

U1040 - Loss of Class 2 Communications with ABS

U1016 - Loss of Class 2 Communication with VCM
U1016 - Loss of Communications with PCM

U1064 - Loss of Communications with DIM

U1088 - Loss of Communications with SDM

U1160 - Loss of Communications with DDM

U1176 - Loss Of RFA Communications

Are you sure your battery is good AND charged? If you have a voltmeter, measure voltage at battery, 11.4 volts is completely discharged and 12.9 volts is completely charged.

If you are getting a low reading, try charging the battery. If it still doesn't improve (you have to wait a while after taking charger off to measure voltage), take it to a auto store for a load check. A load check is the preferred method of checking a battery.

If you CLEAR all of the DTCs and take the car for a drive, what DTCs come back and are they Current or History codes??

The air temp sensor is inside the MAF It is on the inside close to the out side edge of the opening. Have you ever cleaned the MAF with a spray cleaner?

Bill C

Thanks

They make a maf cleaner but I just use brake parts cleaner. Just spray it on the wires and let it eveportae. DO NOT touch or rub the maf wires. I do mine about every oil change.
