MSD coils - any reviews?
Do these offer any advantage over stock?

Do a search, this horse has been beaten. I believe the answer was NO. If it's like the MSD coil(s) I tried on my 69' (About 4 blasters and finally an HVC), I would never buy another MSD coil!

I have never used them, I have used the stock coils past 700HP, other than the red color, I don't see any reason

Basically the same as the Ls2/Ls7s, smaller and deliver same spark with less power input. I plan to use them when I go to exposed valve covers.

MSD High voltage coils are only nessicary in SOME FI/nitrous applications.
I used the 6AL ignition control computer on my truck with much better results, but my 97 silve doesn't have individual ignition coils.

Why would it only be SOME FI/No2? What are the benefits?

It has to do with the much higher cylinder pressures involved w/FI and nitrous engines.
More complete combustion- via a multiple spark with it's longer duration - combined with the correct choice of plug (heat range/gap. etc)
Cylinder pressures that get high enough need more attention to the ignition of the air/fuel mix.
